To: All Parents Whose Children Are Preparing For First Eucharist May/June 2018

More and more parishes are having sessions for parents and children who are preparing for Initiation Sacraments. All Sacraments require preparation. Therefore, here at St. Augustine Parish we will be having once monthly sessions beginning Sunday, September 17, 2017. Sessions will begin at 9:00 am and run until 11:30 am. This will follow through until April, 2018 . There will be also be a few retreat afternoons on a Saturday, one in the fall before Advent, and a final one before 1st Eucharist celebrations. The First Holy Eucharist celebration of your child will take place in May or June 2018.  Having met on June 4th with the principals of our two schools along with our new Sacramental co-ordinator, Joanne Larose we outlined the important segments of this mandatory schedule for the coming year! We invite at least one parent along with your child to attend these sessions, who will also benefit from this program. For any child or parent who has not been baptized and would be interested in more information in receiving the sacraments please contact Father Scott at the Parish Office or Joanne Larose for more information. We would be happy to accommodate you! We appreciate your attendance to all sessions of “faith formation” and preparations for this special Sacrament for your child. It is most important that your family is well prepared for this special event in your child’s life.

Sincerely yours,

Reverend Francis P Scott, Pastor St. Augustine

Grade 5 EA Venture Bake Sale Wednesday, March 29, 2017 (Morning)

posted Mar 27, 2017, 2:31 PM by Marcia Lynch   [ updated Mar 27, 2017, 5:36 PM by St. Augustine School ]

The Grade 5 class at St. Augustine School have been working very hard on their Entrepreneurial Adventure.  In this program, students identify a cause or charity that interests them, create a company that produces a product or service, market that product or service and, finally,
donate all proceeds to the identified charity. The Grade 5 students will also have two other fundraising events before the end of June.

During the morning of Wednesday March 29th, the Grade 5 class will be hosting a bake sale in an effort to raise money to support the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada - Ottawa Chapter.  Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada is the largest and only all-Canadian wish granting charity dedicated to granting wishes to Canadian children between the ages of 3 and 17 who are diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. For more than 30 years, Children’s Wish has worked tirelessly to grant heartfelt wishes to nearly 25,000 children and their families – that’s three wishes each and every day, all year long!

The students were inspired to select this charity for their EA Venture when they learned of a student within our Board who is bravely battling childhood leukemia. The bake sale will feature only nut free items and will even have some gluten free and dairy free options!

We are so grateful for all contributions to this cause.  All proceeds will be donated to the Children’s Wish Foundation!

Thank you in advance for your support.
